چکیده

We have performed magneto-optical Kerr spectroscopy measurements on intercalated transition-metal dichalcogenide Fe0.25TaS2 in the polar Kerr geometry as a function of temperature, magnetic field, and wavelength. The Kerr angle exhibits pronounced peaks at ∼775 nm (1.6 eV) and ∼515 nm (2.4 eV), which we attribute to spin-dependent interband optical transitions arising from states in the vicinity of the Fermi energy. Below the ferromagnetic transition temperature (165 K) we observe a strongly wavelengthand magnetic-field-dependent Kerr signal. At a fixed wavelength, the magnetic-field dependence of the Kerr angle shows a clear hysteresis loop, but its shape sensitively changes with the wavelength. We propose a model that takes into account contributions from domain walls, which allowed us to derive a mathematical expression that successfully fits all the observed hysteresis loops.

Negative magnetic remanence in CoÕMnÕCo grown on GaAs„001..

Co/wedged Mn/Co sandwiches were grown on GaAs~001! at room temperature. With the magneto-optical Kerr effect technique, magnetic hysteresis loops at different Mn thicknesses (0<d<4 nm) were measured and the negative remanence phenomenon was clearly observed when the magnetic interlayer coupling between the two Co layers was antiferromagnetic. The mechanism can be understood with the help of a w...

Linear and nonlinear magneto-optical diffraction from one-dimensional periodic structures

Nonlinear magneto-optical diffraction from periodically structured samples has been studied using magnetization-induced second harmonic generation ~MSHG!. Several orders of diffraction were clearly observable in MSHG, along with a strong dependence on the magnetization. Sizeable asymmetry between the MSHG signal measured in positive and negative diffraction peaks, especially visible in second o...

Easy axis magnetization reversal in cobalt antidot arrays

The magnetization reversal in square lattice cobalt antidot arrays with the applied field at 45° to the anti dot rows was investigated using Lorentz electron microscopy in the Fresnel mode. While the hysteresis loops from magneto-optical Kerr effect measurements only reflect the easy axis character of the reversal, several different reversal processes were identified in the Fresnel images depen...

Magnetic and Magneto-Optical Properties of a Novel Ferromagnetic Semiconductor CdGeP2:Mn

Magnetic and magneto-optical properties were measured at room temperature in the Mn-diffused surface layer of a CdGeP2 single crystal. The magnetization curve measured using VSM clearly shows a ferromagnetic hysteresis loop with Hc=0.4 kOe superposed on the diamagnetic component. The ferromagnetic Curie temperature was determined as 320 K from the magnetization vs. temperature curve. The magnet...

Longitudinal Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect in Ce:YIG Thin Films Incorporating Gold Nanoparticles

We report an experimental study on optical and magneto-optical properties of Cesubstituted yttrium iron garnet thin films incorporating gold nanoparticles. Au nanoparticles were formed by heating Au thin film on cubic quartz and garnet substrate in vacuum chamber and a Ce:YIG layer was deposited on them by the aid of Pulsed laser deposition method. A large enhancement of the longitudinal Kerr e...
